Georgia football
Georgia football, also known as the Bulldogs, has a long and storied history dating back to the late 19th century. The team has competed in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) since its inception in 1932 and has consistently been one of the top teams in the conference. One of the most successful periods in Georgia football history was in the 1980s and 1990s under head coach Vince Dooley. During this time, the team won six SEC championships and one national championship in 1980. This period of success was led by players such as Herschel Walker and Fran Tarkenton. The Bulldogs have also had success in more recent years, winning the SEC championship in 2002 and 2005 under head coach Mark Richt. Richt led the team for 15 seasons and is the winningest coach in Georgia football history. In 2017, Kirby Smart became the head coach of the Bulldogs.
